Ajax Frameworks and Heterogeneous UI

One of the questions I hear often is which Ajax framework to choose for building ajax-enabled apps. One way to answer this question is by comparing and contrasting - see which framework offers what kind of features, and compare those among various frameworks. That is an easy approach. But I'm beginning to realize that this is not necessarily the best approach towards selecting a framework. I think a more important criterion is how well a given framework can deal with heterogeneity.

A Case for UDDI Registries

Here is a realistic application of UDDI registries. This one is not imaginary, and is not driven by a need to somehow use a registry to get SOA qualified. Moreover, you may not find this use case prominently anymore in white papers and brochures on UDDI registries.

SOA Definition

Given the frequent appearance of the word "SOA", I would expect that whoever is "doing" and "preaching" SOA must know very well what SOA is all about. Is Everything Built Before SOA WASTE?

The JDJ newletter dated 07/21/2005 contains an ad that starts with the presumption that everything built before SOA cannot easily be integrated into the new SOA world, and someone is there is to help us. If not FUD, what is this?

SOA - A Shot in the Arm for Registry Fans?

It seems so. Registry fans are just beginning to get the attention they have been hoping for the last few years. As I was catching up with my email, I just came this article titled "Registry + Repository = SOA Platform". Very interesting! A registry and repository to build and deploy SOA!

Sifting through the UDDI Hype

UDDI has not settled well in the enterprise, although it is over fours old. Every now and then, there is a new article or a blog post saying that UDDI is dead, or that UDDI has always been a hype. Then there are those who say why UDDI is necessary for categorizing services, and how UDDI and SOA are going to change the enterprise world by way of UDDI's dynamic discovery capabilities. The truth lies somewhere in between.
